The Body Electric: Preview

“I sing the body electric…and does the body not do as much as the soul? And if the body were not the soul, what is the soul? The love of the body of man balks account—the body itself balks account; that of the man is perfect, and that of the female is perfect.”

– Walt Whitman

We sing the body electric. We recognize and honor the beauty and power of the body, the innate holiness of what is either the soul, or the soul-vessel. For this photoshoot, we aimed to take pictures that were not only beautiful, but convey the power of perfect bodies. Each body, as a body, is perfect. We also examined parts of the whole—we did this with close-up shots of the model’s individual body parts, forcing a reexamination of this suddenly strange landscape. We love the idea of a sensual power—not cold, but possessing a newfound strength in a body of many qualities; a body comfortable with itself and its authority.
